In the play “Fiddler on the Roof,” it describes the fiddler as being so preoccupied with not falling off the roof that he cannot play his music. This is true with most of mankind. People are so busy doing the daily tasks that simply get each of us through the day, that the sun goes down and we are no closer to our dreams than when the sun rose that morning. How do you break the pattern of living day-to-day? How do we achieve the wonderful things we were destined to reach? There is no easy answer, but there is a simple one. In fact, it involves doing only three things!
First, you must decide what you want. It must be that thing that sparks your passion and excitement. Without these emotions, you cannot sustain your efforts! Few people every really figure out what it is that creates this overwhelming internal fire!
Once you decide what it is that excites you, the second step is deciding what price you must pay to achieve your dreams and then be willing to pay that price. Will it mean going back to school for an additional degree? Will it mean sacrificing weekends to work? Will it mean facing your greatest fear? Few people ever discover their passion, and even fewer are willing to pay the ultimate price of success.
Finally, you must take unrelenting action! There is an ancient saying that it was not the last blow of the hammer on the block of granite that split the mighty stone, but the ninety-nine that came before it! When the darkest hour is before us, when we cannot take another step, when all hope is almost gone, success cannot be far away. The history of mankind is the history of men and women who refused to quit, even in the worst of conditions.
Today’s world creates more opportunities than can be counted. Follow the three-step formula for success and one day, your dreams will be fulfilled and you will live the life you only imagined! Live to win!
